Candela
I know you’ve seen these babies everywhere, but a friend of mine mentioned that they’re terrific for homes with kiddos. All the romance of candlelight, none of the open flame. Good point. They turn on when you lift them from the charging base, and last for about for five hours. They also turn on instantly during a power failure.
If you prefer the look of votives, they make those too.

Cupcake Courier
Each year, twice a year, I take cupcakes to my kids’ school to celebrate their birthdays. Each year, twice a year, I also try not to swear as I transport cupcakes in an old gift box, and end up covered in frosting.
So you can obtain a cupcake carrier, or you can cringe through a chorus of, “Mommy! You’re not supposed to use that word!” Your choice.

Mini Wish Ornament
I recently bought this set of six ornaments for a friend because she has six people in her family. Bless her soul.
Each Christmas everyone writes a wish on a slip of paper (included) and closes it inside their ornament. Next Christmas, check to see if your wish came true and make another. This will be a nice family tradition–once the kids stop fighting about who gets the purple one.
Also comes as a single ornament.
